If you live in Orange County, CA, USA and have never tried Japanese-style curry before, you are in luck. Because you are within driving distance Vegilicious (Huntington Beach, CA, USA)...home of some of the best house-made curry you can get anywhere!
Japanese-style curry is very different from Indian- or Thai-style curries that are more commonly available in southern California (although I do enjoy those styles also!). It is a red curry made from many different vegetables, herbs, and spices, that makes for a very complex dish that doesn't have one dominating flavor. Vegilicious Owner/Chef Akira Nakao's own special recipe includes over two dozen ingredients! Chef Akira's curry is not spicy, but he does make his own hot sauce in house, called Magic Sauce for those who want to add some heat. The Magic Sauce is a little too fiery for me, but Ryan loves it and always adds it to his curry.
Grilled Meatless Teriyaki Burger with Ginger Teriyaki Sauce, Minced Onion, Eryngii Mushroom Slices, Red Leaf Lettuce, Vegenaise, and Sesame Seeds...so GOOD!
Vegilicious has many different menu items for anyone in the mood for something other than curry. Their Grilled Meatless Burger with house-made Ginger Teriyaki Sauce is very popular. I really enjoy their Creamy Sweet Corn Chowder (made with sunflower seeds!), and Ryan loves their Angel Hair Salad...but there are so many good items on the menu. And don't forget to save room for their house-made desserts like their Raw White Chocolate Strawberry Cheesecake and Chocolate Banana Cheesecake! No refined sugar is used in their desserts or anything they serve. They also have special entrees and desserts that are available for limited times only...be sure to follow them on Facebook or Twitter so you don't miss out.

Chocolate Cheesecake with Green Tea Ice Cream from Vegilicious! You can get any flavor ice cream you want (Strawberry, Coconut, Tiramisu, Plum, or Green Tea), but this is one of our favorites.
Creamy Sweet Corn Chowder made with Organic Sweet Corn and Sunflower Seeds (gluten-free)...YUM!
Angel Hair Salad with Thinly Shaved Cabbage and Carrots with Sprouts. Served with their Housemade Garlic-Sesame Dressing (Gluten-free available upon request)...delicious!
Vegilicious is located at 16821 Algonquin St. #103, Huntington Beach, CA, USA (phone 714-377-3928) in the Huntington Harbour Mall. They are about 3 doors down from Trader Joe's, and there is plenty of free parking. Chef Akira and his wife Ana are two of the nicest and hardest-working people you'll meet anywhere. Whole Cheesecakes, Party Platters, their famous Japanese-Style Curry packed in freezer-safe containers, bottles of various house-made sauces and dressing are all available to-go. All of their vegetables, fruits, rice, beans, nuts, seeds, and seasoning are organic and non-GMO. Akira and Ana opened their vegan restaurant to help the environment, save animals, and help people live healthier lives...and they are succeeding deliciously!
